Project: “Working with Autism”

I have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (formerly Asperger’s Syndrome). The employment rate for adults with ASD is 10%. So only 1 out of every 10 adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder are stabely employed. I want to work so much. There are so many difficulties for a person with ASD. So I am going to be really focusing on the subject of how a person with Autism can get on a path to stable work and employment. And also how people who do not have Autism might better be able to help, understand, and accomodate for the challenges a person with Autism struggles with. I had an idea for a writing project last time I had a job called “Working With Autism”. It kind of has a double meaning, such that a person with autism is trying to work. But they are also working with their autism. But this is something I am going to write about, talk about, and work on. I want to be able to work productively, using my strengths and handling any weaknesses or difficulties I have, and also help others who struggle working with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

I hope maybe I can give some of you insight into what sort of challenges people with autism face in finding stable sork and living more independently. Maybe you have autism and are struggling, or you know someone who is. I really hope I can help you either understand yourself or your loved one and be able to support them in their endeavor to live to their fullest potential. I encourage you to learn about this subject. Hopefully I can help with that. The more you learn about Autism and employment challenges and solutions, the more help you will be to someone who faces these challenges everyday. Understanding is very helpful.

But I wanted to share this project, and ask for your prayers and if you stumble across any resources, share them with me. If anything you read from me is helpful to your understanding, feel free to share it with others who might benefit.

Thank you and God bless.
